The domain in your e-mail address reflects on your brand and business. Don’t use an e-mail address such as:
- yourname@hotmail.com
- yourname@yahoo.com
- yourname@shaw.ca
- yourname@me.com
- yourname@gmail.com (better than most, but still not ideal)
And please do not get an e-mail like this printed on a business card of flyer! You already have a custom domain for your website, so go the extra mile and get an e-mail account setup on your domain like: yourname@yourdomain.com. It will add a base level of credibility and help you get higher on that trust ladder without having to put in much effort at all.

Great blog article. I can’t believe how many professionals (in all sorts of industries) still use their original purplekitten@hotmail.com etc. account. It’s just embarrassing.

No kidding… given how simple and cheap it is to register an email account at your own domain with Google Apps, there’s no excuse anymore.
